When you have rubber weapons, winners of art competitions, excited children and an enormous cake, you just know it's going to be a lot of fun. And so it was at Kasper's 4th book launch for Fandri's Adventures.
This book launch was a special one for Kasper because her son, Bailey had helped write the first chapter of the book and gave a splendid speech on why he liked the book. Fan of the Hunters of Reloria series, Joanne also gave a review of why she liked this book as well as all the others. She came dressed as a Fandri-La fairy, which was very cute. Kasper announced the winners of the 2016 art competition in a video presentation, and the art from the 2015 art competition was to be seen on the big screen and also in the paperback novel itself. Check out the pictures here, along with Bailey's fun speech. |

Thanks to eveyone who made it to the book launch today and saw the big unveiling. Congratulations to everyone who entered the art competition. The quality of work was of a wide variety and so to were the ages of the artists. The judges took age into account and announced the following wonners. Well done. Here are our 2016 winners in this video trailer. I'm sure these artists enjoy keeping me in suspense with these last minute entries. Well, they certainly were worth the wait. Top left is an image of Daeron and Shari-Rose from Nita Thomas. I really like the shape of the horses and also the clouds are so well done. The orange planet looks great too.
Note: one of the art teacher is now unable to be a judge, but an art teacher from the local high school has jumped to the rescue. Thank you.
There are only 3 days to vote in the audience choice award, so duck on over to Facebook and click 'like' on your favourite entry to vote https://www.facebook.com/pg/huntersofreloria/photos/?tab=album&album_id=689199824580094
This competition is so much fun. I can see the judges are going to have a hard time deciding which are the winners. Here are the next 3 entries by Luke, Elly and Nita. Luke's entry (top left) is of a gorgeous fairy who reminds me of Tinkerbell, one of my favourites. I love the bold use of colour here and the detail in the wings.
As with previous years, entries come in like a flood in the last week of the competition. The entries here are by Jacinta from grade 3; Bailey from grade 5; and Chloe from grade 5. I appreciate that so many students have taken the time to enter, it's humbling. On the top left, we have Jacinta's interpretation of Baby Violetta asleep in her cradle. No doubt she's exhausted from her adventures. Great use of colour and glitter there, thanks.
The competition closes on Sunday. Draw a picture of one of the Hunters of Reloria characters as depicted to enter.
Check out these cute artworks. The first one is the baby mage: Violetta, flying through the sky about Nnanell in her cot. This is the first scrapbook entry I have received and I'm very impressed. The 2nd entry is another sweet fairy by Zara-Lee who entered another fairy already. Lovely and cheerful.
I get so excited every time new entries come in for the Hunters of Reloria art competition. Today I am featuring 3 more entries from our grade 5 friends at a local school. I really enjoy going to schools and giving author talks. The students didn't give me any information for the first 2 pictures, which I have entitled 'fairy.' Possibly the first one is an elegant elf, but I can't say for sure. I like the use of colour from the artists and the wing shapes. The stars around the second fairy remind me of magic.
Entries are flying in thick and fast in the last week of the Hunters of Reloria fantasy art competition. Thanks to everyone who has sent them in today. There's a big stack and I'll post a few each day. Here are the first colourful entries by PJ, Clinton and Katie from Grade 5. Great work guys. I like your imagination and use of colour.
